- Andrew J. (Andy) Renwick

Andrew J. ‘Andy’ Renwick was born on April 18, 1989 the son of Joseph and Karen (Ammann) Renwick at Rome Memorial Hospital. Andrew attended Ridge Mills Elementary School from K-6th grade under the loving guidance of Mrs. Paula Gratch-Gilroy who taught him both to strive to achieve his personal best, while embracing and celebrating his individuality. He also formed two special friendships with Dustin Colgan and Jason Nowicki who both encouraged Andrew to try new experiences and were there for him while he did so.
Andrew graduated from Camden Central High School Class of 2007. He was fortunate to have a core group of friends who both watched out for and encouraged his ever increasing independence. He and his family were especially proud of the awards he earned on class night for overcoming obstacles and for his academic achievements. While in High School, Andy was a member of the Camden Wesleyan Church Youth Group, where he enjoyed volunteering to help others while enjoying the fellowship of his peers and his youth group leader, Mr. Robert Mastin.
Andrew was employed seasonally for the last nine years with Puma Accounting. He enjoyed the various office duties he completed and the friendships made while working. As a youth, Andrew’s hobbies included making maple syrup and raising sheep with his dad and growing pumpkins and gourds to sell at his roadside stand. Andrew was an avid fan of NASCAR, following Jeff Gordon from 2000-2016, and most currently, Chase Elliot. He had been to many different racetracks, but his standout favorites were Charlotte Motor Speedway and “The Monster Mile” in Dover. He visited the NASCAR Hall of Fame and the garages of many racing teams. He was a fan of the New York Yankees and enjoyed going to Yankee Stadium, as well as attending SU basketball games at the Carrier Dome, especially SU vs. Duke.
Andrew was a greeter/usher at the United Church of Camden Presbyterian Church until its closure and then attended worship at the Camden Wesleyan Church. He was also a member of the ARC social group. Andy was a participant for the Camden Relay for Life for twelve years and was a Salvation Army kettle bell ringer. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and going for walks throughout the community. Andrew was “a big guy with a big heart” with a penchant for treating others. He was a true loyal friend to many and lived by his mantra “smile-life’s too short.” Andy had an amazing recall and enjoyed posting “little known facts” for all to enjoy on Facebook. He was looking forward to his upcoming trip to Disney World in November and everything Christmas.
Andrew is survived by his parents and his canine companion Kosmo T. Kramer, half-brothers, Paul Renwick and John Renwick of Grand Junction, CO, uncles and aunts, Michael and Susan Ammann of Mt. Airy, NC, Mark and Katherine Ammann of Sylvan Beach, Diane Ammann of Camden, Matthew Ammann of Marcellus and Stephanie Pierce of Pulaski, cousins, Michael Scott, Makenzie Ammann, Diana and Dillon Holstein, Megan and John Shetler, Sarah and Scott Ammann, Katie and Zach Ammann, Patty and Jay Degraw, Debra and Frank Burm, and Harvey and Robin Wagonmaker. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Walter and Thelma Ammann, paternal grandparents, Clifford and Lucy Renwick, uncles, Scott A. Ammann and Walter C. ‘Chuck’ Ammann.
One of his adult life goals was to be an organ donor. He not only was able to achieve this, but to influence several others to become donors as well. His giving nature truly knew no bounds.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 2, 2018 from the LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., Camden, NY. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, August 1, 2018 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. and 5:00-8:00 p.m., 109 Main Street. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Camden Lions Club, Inc. P.O.
