Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, July 3, 1969 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Willis Higby Rites Thursday - Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 3 for Willis O. Higby, 64, who died Monday, June 30 at Good Samaritan Hospital where he had been a patient for three days. The Rev. Wallace Taylor will officiate at the service to be held in the Pulaski Wesleyan Church. Burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery. Willis Higby was born May 13, 1905 at Turin, the son of E. Frank and Frances Hill Higby. He graduated from Turin Union High School and the old Oswego Normal. He then taught school at West Leyden, Kingston and Lyons Falls. He was married July 23, 1938 to the former Dorothy E. Hill. They moved to Pulaski in 1947 where he was employed by the New York Central Railroad He became associated with General Electric at Syracuse in 1951 until his retirement in 1967. He attended the Wesleyan Church, and was a member of Turin Lodge No. 184 F. & A.M. and the Pulaski Grange. He is survived by his wife; six sons, Willard E., Gerald F., John W., A-1 Adelbert E. (stationed on the Air Force Island of Crete), James J. and Douglas D.; three daughters, Mrs. Myles (Sandra) Meers of Orange, California, Mrs. Steven (Janet) Banks of Sparrow Bush, and Mary Ellen; a sister, Miss Elizabeth Higby of Turin; two brothers, Dr. Willard Higby of Lowville (his twin), and George Higby Constableville; a step mother, Mrs. E. Frank Higby, Lowville. Friends may call at the Foster Funeral Home Wednesday from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9. A Masonic service will be held at the funeral home Wednesday evening at 8 p.m.
