- Ronald F. Holland December 22, 2009 Ronald F. Holland passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born in Syracuse on December 26, 1930. Ron was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. He married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn (McElroy), on August 11, 1951. He served with the U.S. Navy from 1953 through 1955. He retired as a sheet metal mechanic from House Sheet Metal, Syracuse, NY. He was a 55-year member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union, Local 58. He was an avid sportsman and loved hunting and fishing, especially with his family. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marilyn A. (McElroy) Holland; a son, Ronald R. (Patricia) Holland; four grandsons, John (Victoria), Gary, Christopher and Andrew; two granddaughters, Melissa and Jennifer; four great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, William (Lorraine) Wood and Larry McElroy; and one sister-in-law, Teresa McElroy. A special Mass in honor of Ronald will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2010, in St. John the Baptist Church, 406 Court St., Syracuse, NY. Contributions may be made in Ronald's memory to St. John the Baptist Church, 406 Court Street, Syracuse, NY 13208 or ARC of Onondaga, 600 S. Wilbur Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13204.
