- Newspaper Obituary - October 2, 2001 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - DOROTHY M. BURDICK HOMEMAKER - Dorothy M. Burdick, 79, of 31 Gerdon Drive, died Saturday at the home of her son in Herkimer. She was a homemaker. Born Feb. 11, 1922, in Oswego, daughter of Floyd and Marguerite Pilon Vickery, she graduated from Oswego High School in 1939. She married Robert E. Burdick on July 4, 1940. They moved from Scriba to Richland in 1963. Mr. Burdick retired in 1982 after 19 years with Schoeller Technical Papers, Pulaski. He had previously worked for 23 years at Ames Iron Works, Oswego. He died Jan. 22. Mrs. Burdick was a charter member of the Scriba Fire Department Auxiliary and was a Gold Star mother of the Vietnam War. Surviving are a daughter, Betty J. Warren, Richland; two sons, James E., Athens, Tenn., and Joseph R., Herkimer; three sisters, Teresa Dunsmoor, Oswego, Ruth Wallace, Scriba, and Mary M. Inch, Fulton; three brothers, Joseph Vickery, Oswego, and Donald "Pete" Vickery and Francis "Chickie" Vickery, both of Scriba, 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A son, Army 1st Lt. Daniel J. Burdick, was killed in action Dec. 3, 1968, during the Vietnam War, and a daughter, Roberta Burdick, died March 27, 1952. The funeral was scheduled for 10 a.m. today at Unity Acres Chapel, Orwell, with the Rev. Robert Jones officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Oswego. Arrangements are with Foster- Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski. Donations may be made to a hospice of one's choice.
