- Newspaper Obituary - May 1, 1987 - Times Leader - Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania - Eugene A. Kennedy, Courtright Street, Plainsville, died Wednesday, April 29, 1987 in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born Oct. 22, 1916 in Larksville, he was a son of the late Eugene A. and Mary Ellen Murphy Kennedy. He was a graduate of Larksville High School, and was an army veteran of World War II, serving in Normandy, Northern France and the Rhineland. For more than 40 years, he was a printer for the Wilkes-Barre Publishing Co., and later for the Citizens Voice from its inception. He was a member of Local 187 Internation Typographical Union, and was a lifetime DAV member; member of Sacred Heart Church, Plains. He and his wife, the former Eleanor Joseph, celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary on Aug. 29, 1986. Surviving in addition to his wife are sons, Eugene A. Jr., Joseph J., both at home; sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Kubish, and a brother, Joseph Kennedy, both of Kingston. Funeral services will be Saturday at 8:45 a.m. fromt he Mamary-Durkin Funeral Home Inc., 59 Parish St., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in Sacred Heart Church. Friends may call today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
