- Newspaper Obituary - November 27, 1988 Times Leader - Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania - Joseph J. Kennedy, 65, formerly of Parrish Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Saturday morning, Nov. 26, 1988, at the Hillside Avenue, Edwardsville, home of his nephew, John Kubish. Born in Larksville, December 7, 1922, he was the son of the late Eugene and Mary Ellen Murphy Kennedy. Educated in local schools, Mr. Kennedy was employed in the coal mine industry for some time. He worked as a machinist in Roselle, N.J., for more than 35 years, returning to this area in 1981. Mr. Kennedy was a resident of Kingston and Edwardsville. A member of St. Patrick's Church, Edwardsvill, he belonged to the Donegal Society. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Hanna Papula; sisters, Alice Kennedy, Winifred Kennedy; brothers, Eugene Kennedy, and William Kennedy. Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Harold (Patricia) Hamblet, Valatie, N.Y.; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Kubish, Kingston; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Monday at 9 a.m. from the Maher-Collins Funeral Home, 360 N. Maple Ave., Kingston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. Patrick's Church. Interment will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Lehman. Friends may call today, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
