Clayton H. Yerdon, 81, Creekside Apartments, formerly of Redfield, died at 11:59 a.m. Thursday at the emergency room of Mercy Hospital, where he was admitted after being stricken at home.
The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Summerville Funeral Home, with the Rev. Virgil H. Hager, pastor of the Sandy Creek First Baptist Church, officiating. Spring burial will be in Greenboro Cemetery, Redfield.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Erma; two sons, Thomas and Perry, both of Redfield; a daughter, Mrs. Roger (Suzanne) Leddy, Philadelphia; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Eva Broadhuhn, Redfield; several nieces and nephews.
Two brothers and a sister died before him.
Born in Redfield on July 22, 1980, the son of Arthur and Clara Castor Yerdon, he was educated in Redfield schools and was married to Erma Mead on June 18, 1932, in the Sandy Creek United Methodist Church.
Mr. Yerdon lived in Syracuse for 20 years, where he was employed by the Mohawk Coffee Co. He then moved to Redfield, and worked as a truck driver for the Blount Lumber Co., Lacona, retiring in 1974. He moved to the Creekside Apts. three years ago.
Mr. Yerdon was a member of the Mad River Club, Boylston.
Obituary--Jan 1990: Mr. Clayton Yerdon, 81, of Creekside Apartments, Sandy Creek, died Thursday, Dec. 21 in Mercy Hospital, a native of Redfield, Mr. Yerdon also lived in Syracuse before moving to Sandy Creek three years ago. He retired in 1974 as a truck driver from Blount Lumber Co., Lacona. Mr. Yerdon was a member of the Mad River Club. Surviving are his wife, the former Erma Mead; two sons, Thomas and Perry, both of Redfield, a daughter Suzanne Leddy of Philadelphia, NY a sister Eva Broadhurst of Redfield, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Services were held at the Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek, the Rev. Dr. Virgil Hager, pastor of the Sandy Creek Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Greenboro Cemetery, Redfield. Contributions may be made to the Northern Oswego County Ambulance Corps, Box 113, Pulaski.

Clayton attended Redfield Schools. He was an Employee of the Mohawk Coffee Company for 20 years while living in Syracuse, NY. He later returned to Redfield where he obtained local employment with the Blount Lumber Company, retiring in 1974. He and Erma moved to Sandy Creek in 1986. He was a member of the Mad River Club.
