1057. Jenne11 Hulet was born in 1625 at Buckinghamshire, England. She married Adam Mott, son of James Mott and Grace (--?--), on 28 Jul 1647 at New Amsterdam, New Netherlands.
THE DESCENDANTS OF ADAM MOTT
Adam Mott is the first heard of in 1645, when he was of New York. On the 28th of July, 1647, he married there, Jane Hulet, he then as from county Essex, and she, a maid, from county Buckingham. His oldest children Adam and James were baptized in New York. Ten years later he was settled at Hempstead, on the north shore, where he continued to reside until his death. There are several important documents upon record concerning him. One, dated 1682, enumerates his "four sonns by my Frist wiffe Jane Mott, viz. Addam, Jeams, John and Joseph". The second ins his will, dated March 12, 1681-2, wherein he names his "eldest son Adam," sons James, John, Joseph and Gershom, dau. Grace, three children of his deceased son Henry, "youngest son Adam," wife Elizabeth and "all ye children I have by her". The third document is an agreement dated 1691 by which the widow confirms certain lands to sons by the first marriage, viz. Adam, James, John and Joseph, being joined therein by one of her own sons, Richbell, probably the only one then of age. The las of these documents is a release given by John Okeson, in 1703, (who had meantime married the youngest daughter by the second wife,) of his interest in the estate which Adam Mott "did give to his six youngest children which he had by his last wife Elizabeth, unto Richbell Mott, William Mott, Charles Mott and Adam Mott, Jr.
The second wife of Adam Mott was the daughter of Ann, the wife of John Richbell of Mamaroneck, probably by a previous husband whose name was Redman. She married not long prior to Nov., 5, 1691, Robert Hubs, and was living as late as 1698, as his wife.
Adam Mott died probably a little while before Apr. 5, 1690.
His children were:-

Richbell2, Maryanne2, Elizabeth2 , William2, Charles2, and Adam2 by the second wife.
Of the daughters, Grace married Jonathan Smith, Jr., and Elizabeth mar. John Okeson.

"In 1659. Richard Vallingtyne was one of the five chosen Townsmen of the town of Hempstead. The other four were Francis Wicks, Robert Marvin, Adam Mott and Richard Brutnall."
From The American Genealogist Vol. 35, page 107:
"Another Adam Mott came to Newbury, Mass., and later migrated to Long Island. In the shipping list in 1638 he was aged 19 years, and in his will in 1681 he called himself aged about 60. At his marriage to his first wife, Jane Hallet, in 1647, the Dutch Church records of New Amsterdam enter him as from Essez County. This Adam Mott had children by his first wife named James, Grace, Henry, John, Joseph and Gershom.
"The Saffron Walden Parish Registers contain the following baptisms of children of James and Grace Mott:
Adam, 21 Jan 1620/1
Henry, 31 May 1623
George, 20 Nov. 1625.
"It will be noted that the Adam baptized 1620/1 was of the proper age to be the Long Island settler, and that the names James, Grace and Henry correspond. James Mott, father of the above Adam, may possibly have been son of a Mr. George Mott who was buried at Saffron Walden 7 Feb. 1614/15.
"Probably the two Adams were closely related. Further research in Essex and Cambridgeshire is indicated."

"Adam Mott born 1596 son of John Mott, went to MA on the DEFENCE. He later moved to RI when his father joined him They both seemed to have died in 1661. This Adam is the progenitor of the "RI and CT Motts" His cousin, Adam Mott born 1621 son of JAMES MOTT (brother of John) went to NY on the BEVIS in 1639. He lived on Long Island and is the progenitor of the "NY Motts"
"The father of James and John was JOHN Mott of Saffron Walden. It is very common to mix these two families and to get the Adams confused."
