Garland, 73, RFD 6, Johnson City (Central Community), died in Veterans Administration Hospital, Mountain Home, Saturday, 7:00 p.m., after a brief illness. He was a native of Johnson County (Doe Valley Community), but had made his home in Carter County for the past 12 years. He was a son of the late Russell F. Garland and Sallie Morefield Garland and was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corp. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of Sinking Creek Baptist Church. «tab»Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lillie Garland, Johnson City; one son, Farris C. Garland, Memphis; five daughters, Mrs. Faye DeLoach, Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Gertrude Kloth, El Cajon, Calif., Mrs. Effie Lusk, San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Betty Weatherman, Tucson, Ariz., and Mrs. Tedd S. Garland, Knoxville; one sister, Mrs. Kate Nave, Dallas, Ore.; two brothers, Grant Garland, The Dalles Ore., and Lynn Garland, Dallas, Ore.; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. «tab»Funeral services were conducted from Sinking Creek Baptist Church Monday, 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. Reece Harris and Rev. Tom Biggers officiating.
