Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, June 5, 1907 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Milton A. Jones - At 3 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 1907 occurred the death of Milton Alexander Jones, in the seventy-ninth year of his age. Mr. Jones was born September 20, 1828, and was the son of Pliny H. and Hannah Jones. He was one of a family of seven, the other children being Mrs. James Farmer, Lawrence N., Elbridge W., Charles H., Mrs. George W. Dodge, and Sarah, all deceased except Elbridge and Mrs. Dodge. At the age of eighteen months Mr. Jones had the whooping cough so severely he was ever afterwards a deaf-mute. He was baptized from the Episcopal Church. He and his brother, Lawrence, also a deaf-mute, were educated at the school for the deaf and dumb in New York City and it was there he met Livina Lighthall, also a deaf-mute, whom he married December 3, 1857. To them were born two daughters, Helen J., now Mrs. James C. Hart, of Saratoga Springs, and Grace A., now Mrs. Newton Minckler, of Pulaski. Mr. Jones was a very prosperous farmer and resided near Daysville until three years ago, when he retired from active life and removed with Mrs. Jones to Pulaski, where he lived until his death. Although deprived of the sense of hearing, his eye was ever on the alert and he was always well-informed on the topics of the day. He made many warm friends by his jovial disposition. His funeral was held from his late home on Friday, May 31, at 2 p.m., the Rev. Frederick Maunder officiating. He was interred in the Willis cemetery beside his brother, Lawrence. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, one sister, Mrs. Dodge, of Pulaski, and one brother, Elbridge, of Mexico.
