E. Walter Mead, 85, of County Route 50 died Tuesday at home.
Mr. Mead was a life resident of Boylston. He was a farmer and worked for Oswego County BOCES for several years. He was an Oswego County legislator for the town of Boylston from 1972 to 1979. He also served on the Sandy Creek School Board from 1948 to 1968.
Mr. Mead was a member of Vorea Community Church. He also was a member of Sandy Creek Pomona Grange.
Surviving are his wife, Charlotte Y.; four daughters, Eleanor M. LaCelle of Pleasant Valley, Frieda M. Janacek of Sandy Creek, Virginia M. Smith of Orwell and Wanda M. Bishop of Poughkeepskie; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Vorea Community Church, the Rev. Thomas G. Howell officiating. Burial will be in Westland Cemetery, Lacona.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 7385 Park St., Pulaski.
Contributions may be made to the Vorea Church's building fund or its Mead Endowment Fund.
