April 14, 1901, Phylander Potter died at the Binghamton asylum for the insane where he was placed last fall, his condition being such that his wife could no longer safely care for him.
He was born in the town of Danuve, Herkimer Co,. Feb. 25, 1821. He was the eight in a family of thirteen boys only two of which, Joel in this town and Edmund of Cortland, survive him.
His parents, Hardin and Ruth Potter, moved onto Potter Hill when Phylander was a small boy.
Mr. Potter was twice married, the first time, Oct. 27, 1844, to Miss Laura Vining, of Solon, July 5, 1880, she died and about four years later he married Mrs. Mary Wales, of this place who survives him. Of the three children born to him by the first marriage only two are living, Orville and H. Ermina (Mrs. Ellery Burdick.)
He was buried in the Potter Hill cemetery, where his brother, Dan C. Potter, who died May 9, 1826, was the first to be interred.
