Margaret E. Scram Scriber "Maggie," 95, of Pineville, passed peacefully on January 31, 2009, surrounded by family. Maggie was born in Fulton, NY, at 513 Utica Street on December 13, 1913, to Floyd and Elizabeth Catlin Scram. She graduated from Pulaski High School in 1932. She married Leland L. Scriber on September 20, 1935, and the couple moved to Pennsylvania, where they resided until returning to the area in 1953. She wrote the Pineville Pickins Column for the Pulaski Democrat for 10 years and was noted throughout the area for her homemade fried cakes and baked goods. Her husband died in 1981. She was predeceased by her daughters, Betty, Sara and Nancy; brother Francis Scram; and sister Lillian Kalk. Survived by her daughter, Frances, and son-in-law, Fred Reynolds, and her son, Peter Scriber, all of Pineville; seven grandchildren whom she loved with all her heart, Marty, Lee, Mary, Norton, Sherry Stern, Bonita Palmer, Guile and Mallory Scriber; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 4, at 7 p.m. at Maggie's home at 382 County Route 48 in Pineville. The family will receive friends and relatives at her home throughout the day on Wednesday, prior to the service. Spring burial will be in Pineville Cemetery.
