      Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, May 10, 1972 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Charles E. Peterson Victim of Third Drowning - Charles E. Peterson, 12, of Seber Road, Sandy Creek, drowned Saturday, May 6 in three feet of water in an excavation ditch off Nelson Avenue, Pulaski, Sheriffs deputies said. Undersheriff Whitney Schouten said it appeared that the boy had been walking up wet planks to the entrance of the house when he lost his balance or slipped and fell striking his head. The body was discovered by his brother, Alan Peterson and another carpenter Leon Meeks, who noticed that Charles had not been seen for about 20 minutes. They had given him mouth to mouth resuscitation until the arrival of the Pulaski Fire Department, but the boy failed to respond. Dr. A. B. Thompson, appointed coroner's physician, pronounced the boy dead at the scene. - Charles E. Peterson - Born in Oswego June 22, 1959, he was the son of Vernon and Barbara Quinlan Peterson. He was a seventh grade student at Sandy Creek Central School. He is survived by his parents, Vernon and Barbara Peterson; five brothers, Vernon R. of Pulaski, Alan L. of Mineola, twins Stanley and Steven at home and his twin brother Cecil, also at home; five sisters, Mrs. Richard (Joanne) Skellington of Altmar, Mrs. Larry (Sue Ann) Whittier of Watertown, Mrs. John (Vicki) Leach of Pulaski, Miss Barbara Lynn Peterson and Miss Viola Joy Peterson at home; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Nellie Peterson of Lakeland, Florida; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Kilts of Pulaski; paternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Edith O'Brien of Rome. The funeral was held Tuesday, May 9 at 1 p.m. at Foster-Hax Funeral Home. The Rev. David Zuber of Wesleyan Church, Sandy Creek, officiated. Burial was in Pulaski Cemetery.
