- DOUGLAS B. SHAMPINE, CARTHAGE, DIES AT 76

Douglas B. Shampine, 76, of 303 N. Clinton St., died Thursday morning at Carthage Area Hospital, where he had been a patient since Nov. 17.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bossuot-Lundy Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Ronald A. Sparks, co-pastor of the United Community Church, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours. Contributions may be made to the Carthage Area Rescue Squad.
Surviving are a son, Robert D., Yakima, Wash.; a daughter, Mrs. George (Patricia D.) Kepler, Deferiet; a brother, Clyde, Carthage; a sister, Myrtle Shampine, Carthage; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Born March 28, 1916, in Antwerp, son of Merton C. and Minnie Frawley Shampine, he graduated from West Carthage High School in 1934.
Marriages to Elizabeth Hibbard and Dorothy Wisner ended in divorce.
Mr. Shampine was employed in the purchasing department and stock room of the former St. Regis Paper Co., Deferiet, from 1946 to 1961. He was then employed as an accountant by Sanders Sheet Metal Co., Antwerp, and then by Black Clawson, Watertown. He retired several years ago because of a disability.
Mr. Shampine was a member of the Carthage Lions Club, the Media Shrine Temple, Watertown, and Carthage Lodge 158, F.&A.M.
