Newspaper Article - Thursday, January 25, 1951 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Pfc. Peterson Missing, Awarded Combat Badge - Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Peterson of Maltby Corners this past week received a communication from the War Department which confirmed the telegram which had notified them of their son, Pfc. Lynn Peterson, being missing in action in Korea. The letter assured them that the term "missing" does not always mean a soldier is lost but oftentimes they are temporarily separated from their unit and later found. Pfc. Peterson had been awarded, prior to being listed as "missing", the Combat Infantry Badge for his excellent performance of duty in ground combat against the enemy. Peterson's unit made two amphibious landings and they were the only United States troops to reach the Manchurian border. Later, they took part in the successful evacuation of the Hungnam beachhead, the largest water evacuation in American military history.
