- DELONG.
CAPT. JAMES (1) was born probably in Dutchess or Columbia, Co.,
N.Y. His parents may have came from the New England States.
A tradition prevails that four brothers came from France to the Colonies
about the time or a little before the Revolution, two of whom became rebels
and two Tories; the Tories going to Canada, and Captain James was one of
the two brothers who were rebels, remained in the Colonies. I
He married --- Shaw, (?) and dwelt in Columbia or Dutchess
Co., N. Y. He is said to have been married twice, particulars of second
marriage not known.

These children had a cousin Ephraim, who dwelt on ."Crumhorn "
Mountain, so-called, Otsego Co., N.Y. Another cousin, James Delong,
dwelt at Herkimer, N.Y., and tended canal locks and was overseer of
the poor-house. Another cousin from Herkimer Co., was Cornelius
Steward, and some of his descendants went to Lawrence Co.
ISAAC (2)-James (1)-married Rebecca Allen, and dwelt in Warren,
Herkimer Co., N. Y.

CAPT. JAMES (2)-James (1)-was born April 3, 1777, probably in
Columbia Co., N.Y., and married Feb. 12, 1806, Hannah Stewart, who

was born June 11, 1788, in Sherman, Conn., though some say near New
Haven, and who was a daughter of Stephen and. Hannah (Stewart) Stewart.
They dwelt successively in Warren, Hartwick, and Watertown, N.Y.
He died in Watertown, Oct. 6, 1849, and she Sept. 8, 1857.

16, 1859.

v John Milton (3) b. in Warren, June 17,1815, m. Prudee Fox,
Feb. 16, 1840. They had no children but adopted.
vi Caroline Seeley (3) b. March 23. 1817, m. (1) William Parker,
(2) William Clyde.
vii James (3) b. Aug. 9, 1819, m. Mary Lord.
viii George Nelson (3) b. April 23, 1823, m. Lucina Woodward.
ix Charlotte Zenana (3) b. May 27, 1826, m. Frederick Schram.
x Homer Bradley (3) b. Aug. 12, 1829, m. Helen Child.
xi Myron Brigham (3) b. Sept. 30, 1833, m. Josephine Wells.
James (2) had an aunt by the name of Mrs.--- Smith, and perhaps
another who married Isaac Jackson, and dwelt in Columbia, N.Y.
JOHN (2)-James (1)-was born March 26,1780, married Diadama
Babcock, who was born April 7, 1783.
They dwelt on Stewart's Patent, so-called in the town of Otsego, very
near the boundary line dividing this town from the town of Springfield,
Otsego Co., N.Y., where she died June 5, 1836, and he March 1, 1864.

N.Y.

iv Robert (3) b. June 5, 1810, m. Marette Ely; dw. Richfield, N.Y.
v Orange (3) b. Dec. 11,1812, m. Emma Lines; dw. Burlington,
N.Y., had one child;

vii Emeline (3) b. March 6, 1817, m. Peter Allen: dw. Springfield,
and died Aug. 12, 1858.
vii Harriet (3) 11. May 9, 1819, m. Robert Freeman, a son of
Isaac Delong's daughter, Louisa.; dw. in Burlington, on
the Butternut Creek, near the south line of the town.
Their child :
Louisa, m. Joel Porter; dw. Burlington.
ix Octavia. (3) b. June 18, 1821, m. Charles Whipple, who went
to California. during the early gold excitement, and died
there; they had two children. She m. (2) Lindell Sliter;
dw. Springfield.
x Mariette (3) b. Aug. 28, 1823. .
xi Damon Hatch (3) b. Sept. 12 1825, m. Nov. 2, 1876, Mary
Jane Black, and dwelt on the homestead of his father.
BETSEY (2)-James (1)-married Jedediah Caswell, and dwelt at Manlius
Square, Madison Co., N.Y. He died aged about seventy years, and she
somewhat younger, The order of the following list not certain.

His daughter, Mrs. Amanda Adams, dwelt at Dixson, Ill.

She married for her second husband Mason Tilden, and removed to Hiram,
Portage Co., O., but died not far from Chicago living with her children.
ROSANNA (3)-James (2), James (1)-was born in Warren, N.Y., Nov.
1, 1808, and married at the Hope Factory, so-called, near Cooperstown, N.Y.,
Henry Raught, concerning whose parentage and ancestry nothing has been
communicated.
They moved to Watertown, N.Y., where he followed the trade of a mason.
From this place they went to the western part of Pennsylvania. where he engaged
in the lumber trade on the Clarion River, at a place afterwards known as Raught's
Mills, and where they died.

with a family of seven children.
