      Russell Charles Tyo passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017 at Seneca Hill Manor.

      Russell was born January 13, 1930 in Massena NY to Augustus & Johanna Durant Tyo.

      In 1955 he and his wife Virginia and their first two children moved to Scriba NY where they went on to raise their four children. He worked at Oswego Castings as a foreman for 22 years then went to on to work with Bill Meaney at Meaney’s Sand and Gravel. After about 10 years there he moved on to work with his friend Bob Babcock at Oswego Tool and Steel. He retired in 1994 and moved shortly after that to the Redfield area where they lived until 2006. Then they moved back to Scriba to be closer to family.

      Russell loved to get together with family and friends. He had a talent & the creativity to make things, as well as people, work. He was appreciated for everything he did for others as well as his sense of humor.

      Russell will be missed by many, many family members and friends.

      He was predeceased by his brothers Joseph (Harry), Bernard, Howard, Louis; and sisters Mary Valance, Adelaide Small and Neva Stonecipher.

      Russell is survived by his wife of 65 years, Virginia Lou Dupre Tyo. His children Rodney (Arlene) Tyo, Catherine (Daniel) Mulcahey, Annette Tyo, and Martin (Jacqueline) Tyo. His grandchildren Jacob, Justin, Adam, Athena, Erica, Matthew, Andrew, Nicholas and Alexandria and several great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Augustus (Juanita) Tyo and Eileen Fox.

      A heartfelt thanks to Seneca Hill Manor, 3rd floor, for their compassion when taking care of him. And, he truly appreciated his time on the 2nd floor during rehab for their kindness during his stay there.

      Calling hours will be conducted from 1-3 on Friday, April 21 with a service directly following at 3PM at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home There will be a graveside service scheduled at the convenience of the family.
