      Helen C. Ostrynski, 77, R.D. 3, retired art instructor at Pulaski Academy and Central School, died Tuesday evening at the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, after a long illness.

      The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski, and at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, Pulaski, with the Rev. Anthony Keeffe, pastor, and the Rev. Raymond McVey, former pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Richland Cemetery.

      Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Richland Volunteer Fire Department or Northern Oswego County Ambulance Service.

      Surviving are a brother, Wallace W. Sharpe, Canastota; two nieces, Patricia Rose, Syracuse, and Leona Chamberlin, New York City, and a nephew, Richard Sharpe, Skaneateles.

      Born at Tuckahoe on Aug. 24, 1911, a daughter of John and Leontyna Baginski Ostrynski, she was graduated from Pulaski Academy High School in 1930, and from Buffalo State Teachers' College in 1934.

      Miss Ostrynski was employed as a social worker at Buffalo during the Depression years. She later worked as a draftswoman at the Scintilla Magneto Co., Sidney, during World War II.

      She taught art in schools at Sidney, Wolcott and Utica, before returning to Pulaski in 1946. She was employed as an art instructor at Pulaski Academy and Central School until her retirement in 1971.

      Miss Ostrynski was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. She was also a member of the Oswego County Retired Teachers' Association and the ROSA Garden Club, and was secretary and treasurer of the Richland Cemetery Association.
