    • Newspaper Obituary - Syracuse Post Standard May 26, 1963 - Mrs. May Crandon Horr - Over a 45 year spand, almost every athlete who attended Syracuse University was a friend and confident of May Crandon, who presided over the old Athletic Office up in Archbold Gym and who regarded all the members of the Varsity Club as "my boys" From 1905, when she went to work for the late Samuel H. Cook, then graduate manager, until her retirement in 1951, May Crandon was the most direct personal link to the campus for thousands of alumni. She was proud of her associations with the men who had won their block letters in Orange sports, and they were proud to have her serve as secretary of their Varsity Club. In 1952, Auntie May, as she came to be known in her later years, was married to Bill Horr, since deceased, who was Syracuse University's first All American football player, having been chosen on Walter Camps' team in 1908. May Crandon Horr, died Thursday night at the age of 78, after years of ill health. But she never lost interest in "her boys" and many of them will gather in St. Paul's Episcopal Church tomorrow morning to pay her their final respects.
