- Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, August 18, 1909 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Charles Sampson Suicides - Charles Sampson, aged 26 years, who has been known about here for some time and the past summer employed at farm work for Charles Farmer, a mile south of this village, left his home, Thursday morning, and was seen just before evening at the home of his wife’s parents, Prosser Whaley’s, about three miles south east of this village just at evening and never after that, alive, his body being found in a piece of woods nearby. Friday night about 11 o’clock, with a bullet hole in the side near the heart and another in the right temple,which shots were fired from a 32 caliber rifle. Coroner Hollis was called and held an inquest giving a verdict of suicide. Sampson leaves, beside his wife, a father, who was not located, but resides near Fulton and a sister, Mrs. Presley of the west part of this town. The funeral was largely attended at the Leigh school house, Sunday at three o’clock, B. G. Seamans, of Pulaski, officiating. Burial at Riverside Cemetery on the Rome road.
