Notes - Donald J. Owens, 74, of Syracuse, died unexpectedly Wednesday. He was a 30-year employee of Upstate Medical University in the finance department. He was a CSEA Local 615 member, delegate and vice president and later, a member of local 913 CSEA retirees. Mr. Owens was a lifelong United Methodist, belonging to Brown Memorial, Rockefeller and Gethsemane churches. For over 20 years, he had sung with the Syracuse Chorale. He was also a volunteer with Advocates for University Hospital. Surviving are his brothers, Charles (Pat) and Gary (Pat) Owens; sisters, Sandra (Jim) Manipole, Betty Owens and Carol (Herm) Hinman; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. Services will be Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Gethsemane United Methodist Church, 1700 Butternut Street, with burial following in White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt. Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 8 pm at Fergerson Funeral Home, 215 South Main Street, North Syracuse, NY. Donations may be made to Wetzel Road Church of Christ, 4268 Wetzel Road, Liverpool, NY 13090.
