T. Richard Blount, 85, of 70 Miller Road, died Saturday at Seneca Hill Manor, Oswego.
Mr. Blount was a millwright at Crouse Hinds Co., Syracuse, and was also a manager at of several furniture companies, retiring in 1992.
He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America for many years, serving as a scout master for 15 years. He was also a member of the board of Woodlawn Cemetery Association, volunteered at Ainsworth Memorial Library and was an active member of Community Park Association, all of Sandy Creek.
Born March 13, 1920, in the town of Sandy Creek, son of F. Leland and Doris Blount, he graduated from Sandy Creek High School in 1937 and later graduated from New York State Ranger School at Wanakena. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army from 1943 to 1946, and also served in the Civilian Conservation Corps for 13 summers.
He married the former Helen Salisbury 63 years ago.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters and their husbands, Bonita and David Rubenstein, Mount Tremper, and Diane and James Casey, Sandy Creek; six sons and four daughters-in-law, Jerrold and Michele, Jacksonville, Fla., Raymond and Kathy, Salinas, Calif., and Leslie and Laurette, Daniel, John, and James and Cheryl, all of Lacona; 17 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
An infant son, Wayne Leland, and a brother, Derrill, died before him.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek, with the Rev. Mary Drake officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
