      Lawrence J. Helmer, 63, of 2906 Route 69,Camden,formerly of 1 Maryland Drive,Fulton,died Friday at home.

      Born in Fulton, he lived seven years in Camden. He retired in 1998 after 18 years with Carrier Corp. He served in the Navy from 1958 to 1978. He was a communicant of Church of the Immaculate Conception, a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 569 and a member of Moose Lodge 1258, all in Fulton, and a member of Harley Owners Group and USS Nimitz CVN 68 Organization.

      His wife, the former Judith A. Dunn, died in 1991.

      Survivors: His companion, Betty George of Camden; a daughter, Kim Firenze of Fulton; two sons, Lawrence Jr. of Syracuse and Gregory of Fulton; his mother, Gertrude Breitbeck of Fulton; four sisters, Shirley Heagerty, Martha Williams and Donna Stoutenger, all of Fulton, and Linda Moore of Syracuse; a brother, Kenneth of Syracuse; a grandson.

      Services: 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Foster Funeral Home and 10 a.m. in Church of the Immaculate Conception, Fulton. Burial, St. Mary's Cemetery, Fulton. Calling hours, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 910 Fay St., Fulton.
