    • Lawrence W. Smith, age 94, life resident of Orwell passed away Friday at Crouse Irving Hospital in Syracuse. He was born November 10, 1919 in Ricard, the son of Winant and Ruby Lawrence Smith. He graduated from Sandy Creek High School and he attended Cornell University. He owned and operated a farm for 55 years, and he also worked at Rome Cable for several years. He also operated a logging company for many years. Lawrence enjoyed the woods, piloting airplanes, riding on tractors, boating and was an avid reader. Surviving are wife Kathleen; two sons, Ronald (Susan) Smith of Richland, Terry (Debbie) Smith of Orwell; one daughter, Sandra Revette of Endicott; one stepdaughter, Marie Cameron of Angola, NY; and several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Helen Grinell Anson; one son, David Smith; and a grandson, Dale Smith. Funeral services will be held 6 p.m. January 14, 2014, at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski with a spring burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Orwell. Calling hours will be held from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. prior to the funeral.
