  • Notes
    • Died at Altmar, Wednesday July 16, Mrs. Jerome Sheeley, aged 83 years. Charlotte Potter was born in Sandy Creek on July 29, 1841. When she was a small child her parents moved to Howardville, and later to Altmar where most of her life has been spent. At the age of 15 years she became the wife of Jerome Sheeley and nine children were born of the union, three of whom are deceased.

Mrs. Sheeley was a member of the Methodist church and until ill health prevented her attendance was one of its most regular attendants. She was also a member of the Ladies' Aid and was always ready and willing to do her part wherever help was needed.

For the past two years, Mrs. Sheeley had been tenderly cared for by her daughter, Mrs. D. R. Whitney at whose home she passed away. Mrs. Sheeley is survived by her husband, Jerome Sheeley and six children, Mrs. D.R. Whitney, Mrs. Jas. Morrison and Frank Sheeley of Altmar, and Charles Ackerlind and William and Bern Sheeley of Hartford, Ct.

A prayer was held at her late home at 1 o'clock, Saturday and funeral services conducted by the Rev. R. A. Tennes were held at M.E. church at 2 o'clock. Two selections were sung by E.A. Field, Mrs. A.B. Pierce and Mrs. Ray Orton with Miss Margaret Dennie as organist. Relatives of the deceased acted as bearers. The Ladies' Aid Society attended in a body. Interment was made in the family lot at Riverside cemetery
