Ruth Marie Dennie, 78, of 502 Arsenal St., died Monday at her home.
Mrs. Dennie was a secretary for the Federal Trade Commission, Washington, D.C., from 1964 to 1986. She received several meritorious service awards during her employment there and later worked at a law office in Alexandria, Va.
Born May 19, 1926, in Parish, daughter of Charley F. and Lila Mae Jacobson Smith, she graduated from Pulaski Academy.
She married Christopher E. Dennie on Nov. 7, 1953. He died in July 1994.
Surviving are a daughter, Debra Coleman, Watertown; a son, Thomas E., address unknown; two sisters, Edna Mae Brown, Arlington, and Marilyn A. Smith, Adams Center; two brothers, Carl and David Smith, both of Florida; 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A son, Gary Michael Dennie, died in November 1994. Two brothers, Francis C. and Clair Robert Smith, and a sister, Esther Stowell, also died before her.
A spring graveside service will be in South Richland Cemetery.
There are no calling hours. Arrangements are with Reed & Benoit Funeral Home.
