Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, October 2, 1935 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Harry J. Knowlton Dies in Utica -Harry J. Knowlton, a former resident of Pulaski and brother of Leonard A. Knowlton and Mrs. Amy Bumpus of this village, died in Utica, his home city, Friday, September 27th. Mr. Knowlton was born at Bath, Ontario, Canada, August 31, 1879, a son of the late Calvin and Catherine Buck Knowlton, and came with his parents to the United States when a small child. His boyhood schooldays and young manhood were passed at the home of his parents in this village. Here he learned the machinist's trade under the late Herman Killam at the foundry of the Ontario Iron Works. About eighteen years ago he removed with his family to Utica. There he entered the employ of the Savage Arms Company where he remained for several years, later becoming connected with the Daniel Greene Felt Shoe Company. Mr. Knowlton is survived by his widow, Mrs. Clarissa Jennings Knowlton of Utica, one daughter, Mrs. James Hutcheon, of Coloma, California, one grandson, the brother and sister above mentioned, to nephews, Wayne Knowlton of Pulaski and Francis M. Bumpus of Syracuse, an aunt, Mrs. Elizabeth Darling of Kingston, Ontario, and several cousins. The funeral was held from his late home in Utica, Monday, with burial in Pulaski cemetery.
