Richard "Dick" Bardeschewski, Sr. born 1/25/1921 in Oswego, NY passed peacefully at his home at Sandy Pond, Saturday, 2/4/12 surrounded by his loving family.
Dick's parents, Regina and Leopold, and siblings, Edward, Frieda and Walter, immigrated to the USA from Germany June 1913. He grew up in Oswego, NY where he graduated from Oswego College of Industrial Arts and purchased the Bower Printing Company, which he ran until retirement in 1977. He met and married Norma Kleiman 2/20/47, and they moved to Sandy Pond, NY where they raised 5 children in the home he built. Dick is a veteran of WWII, where he served as a mechanic, while stationed in the Philippines. He continued to use his strong hands-on-skills throughout his professional and personal life. Dick was an avid fisherman and hunter. Those who knew him were familiar with his passion for collecting "antiquities!"
Dick is survived by Norma, his wife of 65 years, and children: Richard, Jr. (Nancy), Donna (Jim) Lo Dolce, Susan Mooney (companion Tom), Thomas (companion Jackie), David (Kathy), sister Louise Stafford, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Richard is predeceased by his parents Regina and Leopold, two brothers, Edward and Walter, and two sisters, Frieda Winchell and Grace Rubley.
Calling hours will be from 4 - 6 p.m. Tuesday 2/7, followed by a short service by the Rev. Linda Taber at Summerville Funeral Home, 1997 Harwood Drive, Sandy Creek, followed by a gathering and buffet at the Lacona VFW, Salisbury Street. Spring burial will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sandy Creek. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Friends of Oswego County Hospice, 70 Bunner Street, Oswego, NY 13126-3309.
