Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, March 30, 1977 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - J. A. Mattison, formerly of Pulaski, dies - John A. Mattison, 72, of Clarence, New York, a retired aeronautical engineer and executive with the Curtis-Wright Corporation and Wheelabrator-Frye Inc., of Buffalo, died Saturday, March 12 after a long illness. Mr. Mattison was the son of the late John A. Mattison Sr., and the late Antoinette Valentine Mattison of Pulaski. He was also the brother of the late Donald Mattison and of the late Mrs. Ruby Mattison Tollerton of the village. Mr. Mattison was a graduate of Pulaski Academy and of Clarkston Institute of Technology. He was active in education and was a past director of the New York State School Boards Association, a past president of the Erie County School Boards Association, a past president of the Clarence, New York, School Board, and a past member of the Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) of Erie County. His professional affiliations included past chairman of the Buffalo Division of the Society of Automotive Engineers, former member of the Institute of Aeronautical Sciences and past director of the Aero Club of Buffalo. Memorial services were held on March 14, 1977, at St. Paul's Episcopal Chapel in Clarence, where Mr. Mattison had served as a member of the vestry. Mr. Mattison is survived by his wife, the former Grace Schweiker, a son, Robert, of Lakeside, two daughters, Mrs. Judy Clum of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Nancy Tomion of Alexandria, Virginia and a nephew, Harry Mattison Tollerton, of Chevy Chase, Maryland.
