Former Lacona Postmaster's Death Occurs.
- Glenn C. Edick, 78, a resident of Lacona for the past 50 years, died Monday afternoon, Sept. 15, 1969 at his home on Harwood Drive.
His funeral was held Thursday at 8:30 a.m. at the family home, and was followed by 9 a.m. services at St. Francis Xavier church in Lacona. Burial was in Pleasant Lawn cemetery, Parish.
Besides his widow, Mrs.Frances O'Brien Edick, he is survived by three sons, Burns, Lacona, Robert, Pulaski, and Brother Francis Mary, Bayshore,L.I.; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Ann) Hazard, Lacona; a brother, Harold F. Edick, Alexandria Bay; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Born in Parish
Mr. Edick was born in Parish Feb. 22, 1891, a son of Herbert and Ella Scranton Edick. He was married at Parish Dec. 13, 1910 to Miss Frances O'Brien at St. Mary's church, Altmar. After their marriage Mr. Edick worked for awhile with his father, who had a general store in. Parish. In 1914 they, came to Lacona. Mr. Edick conducted a cigar and candy business here, making cigars which he sold on the road. He also worked at Blounts, where he had charge of the shipping and flooring department. In 1934 Mr. Edick was appointed postmaster at Lacona and held the office for 27 years before retirement. He was also a salesman for a Mutual Insurance company.
