Arrange Rites for Three Killed in Auto's Plunge
Olive Scranton, Harwood Christman and Arthur W. Whittaker, Accident Victims
      Special Dispatch to the Herald
Pulaski, Dec. 10.- Funeral arrangements were being made today for the victims of the tragedy that cost the lives of two youths and their girl companion when their automobile plunged through guard rails on the Lacona-Orwell Road near Orwell, Saturday night and landed in a creek. A verdict of accidental death was reached by Assistant District Attorney Clarence Gorman of Pulaski following an investigation in which he was assisted by Troopers Myron and Carrier.
Services for Miss Olive Scranton, 19, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Scranton of Sandy Creek, will be conducted in the Sandy Creek Congregational Church, of which she was a member, tomorrow morning at 11 o'clock by the Rev. Thomas D. Davies and the Rev. Walter S. Dobbie.
Miss Scranton was a junior in the Sandy Creek High School and a member of the school's glee club and Sandy Creek grange.
The four young people were on their way to a dance at Carpenter's barn near Orwell. Mrs. Scranton, mother of the dead girl and her son, Henry Scranton, were following them in another car.
In absolving all of the occupants of the wrecked automobile from blame, Assistant District Attorney Gorman took into account the snow covered highway which made driving a delicate matter Saturday night.
