      < V11 > All>ert J.. son of John E. Potter, was bom at < )rwcll. New York. September 7. 1833, and has always lived in that town. I le was educated in the public schools, and learned the trade of carpenter when a young man. During most of his active life he has been a farmer. He is now living in Orwell. During the civil war he enlisted in Company C, I loth New York Regiment, Volunteer Infantry. and served to the end of the war. He has been active in public affairs and has served on the board of education, in politics he is a Prohibitionist, and in religion he is a Congre-gationalist. He is a member of the Grand Army of the Republic of Orwell, in which he has held the principal offices, and about which he has recently written a book. He is one of the most prominent and influential citizens of the town, and is highly rcs|)cctcd by all his townsmen. He married. September 7. 1856. Mary M. Damon, bom in >832. daughter of Daniel and Polly (Hatch) Damon. Children, born in Orwell. New York: t. Genevieve, December 13, 1857:
