- Newspaper Obituary - December 31, 1913 Pulaski Democrat - Daughter of Henry & Alice Mellen, pioneer settlers of Richland, her siblings were Chester, Melvin, Harriet, Henry & Daniel. She spent nearly her entire life in the area excepting a few years she spent in the east. She was twice married, first to Dwight Peck in 1852, who died only 9 months after their marriage. Her second marriage was to James Harvey Ames in 1858. They had a son, Harvey, who died at 18 months, and a daughter Mrs. E.M. Lighthall.
Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, December 31, 1913 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Marcia Mellen was born in Richland, May 19th, 1824. She was the daughter of Henry and Alice Mellen (pioneer settlers of that place.) Nearly her whole life has been spent in Richland with the exception of a few of her earlier years in the east. She was twice married. First to Dwight Peck in 1852, who only lived nine months after their marriage. Second to James Harvey Ames in 1858, who died in 1874. To them were born one son, Harvey, who died at the age of 18 months, and a daughter, Mrs. E. M. Lighthall, with whom she resided at the time of her death, December 21, 1913. She had four brothers, Henry, Chester, Melvin and Daniel and one sister, Miss Harriet Mellen. Her sister, daughter and one stepson, Mr. Morris Ames, survive her.
