Newspaper Obituary - (date and newspaper unavailable) - Orrin Russell Dies In Sodus - Heart Attack Fatal to Well Known Port Ontario Guide, Monday. Pulaski - Orrin Russell, one of the most widely known residents of Port Ontario, died suddenly Monday morning, in Sodus Hospital where he had been a patient for the last two weeks. He had been picking apples near Williamstown when he suffered an infection which required hospitalization, and was apparently making good recovery when he suffered a fatal heart attack. Mr. Russell was born August 17, 1876, at Daysville, son of Charles and Abbie Ann Dwight Russell. As a boy he moved to the banks of the Salmon River at Port Ontario and had long been a guide and boatman for fishermen and hunters. He had made a close study of nature and was regarded as a reliable authority on animals, birds and forest lore. Mr. Russell was also a student of local history and a collector of relics and antiques dating back to Revolutionary times. He had lived alone in a log cabin at the south end of the Port Ontario bridges. During the emergency when blackouts and alarms were frequent, he was one of the most faithful and conscientious members of the civilian protective forces. Surviving are a half-brother, Lewis Norton, Napa, California, and several grandnieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held in Bethel Church, Port Ontario, Thursday at 2 p.m.
