- Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, July 25, 1849 Richland Courier - Pulaski, New York - Painful Occurrence - On Friday last while hands on the brick yard of William H. Lester were employed in striking, the water wheel that drives the machine for mixing the clay suddenly stopped. Mr. Lester proceeded to remove the cap from the wheel for the purpose of clearing it, when, shocking to relate, he found the lifeless form of his only son, a child of three and a half years old, in the wheel. We may imagine, but cannot paint, the agony of the father at this unexpected development. The child had been at play in the yard and unseen by anyone had fallen into the flume as it passed through into the wheel; how long he had been in that situation could not be learned, but all endeavors to resuscitate were unavailing and he was followed to the grave on Saturday.
