Mary E. Barber, 70, of Altmar, died Friday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse. She was born December 8, 1936, in Richland, the daughter of Guy and Lovina Benjamin Eldred. She resided in Altmar since 1943 and graduated from Altmar-Parish High School in 1954. She married Ellwyn P. Barber on Sept. 22, 1956. She was employed by Oswego County Dept. of Motor Vehicles from 1982-98, when she retired. She was also employed by General Electric from 1955-62 and Lincoln Bank in Pulaski from 1954-55.
Mary was a member of Oswego County Board of Elections for the past 35 years, a member of Amboy OES Chapter #877, a member of Park United Methodist Church, Pulaski, and a member of Altmar Bicentennial Committee.
Surviving: her husband, Ellwyn P.; one daughter, Traci (John) Mintonye of Parish; two sons, Scott (Anne) Barber of Pulaski and Chris Barber of Altmar; two brothers, James Eldred of Willliamstown and Ronald Eldred of Altmar; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski. Spring burial will be held in Riverside Cemetery, Altmar
**UPDATE** A Committal Service for Mary A. Barber, of Altmar, who died January 26, 2007, will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at the Riverside Cemetery, Altmar.
