- Newspaper Obituary - July 16, 1862 Mexico Independant - Died - At Amboy Center, July 12th, Mrs. Harriet Park, aged 42 years and months. Deceased was the widow of Mr. Smith Park, who volunteered in the month of April, 1861, to serve this country. He was enrolled in Company D, 24th regiment, and performed the erdaous duties of a soldier faithfully until he was prostrated by disease. He remained in camp about five weeks, when it was thought he could return home. He accordingly started for home, where he arrived January 4th. He suffered severly from a pulmonary complaint, which ended his earthly career February 17th. The funeral services were attended by a large concourse of people, all of whom had a heart to weep for the deceased patriot and soldier. Mrs. Park's funeral was attended in the M. E. Church, Amboy Center, by Rev. Mr. Phelps. Deceased leaves six children to mourn her loss.- O.B. Patchen
