- Newspaper Obituary - July 7, 1955 Pulaski Democrat - Dies at Carthage - Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at the Basnot Funeral Parlors in Carthage for Ray D. Wilder, 80 at 2 o'clock with Rev. Nyles Blanchard officiating. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery, West Carthage. Mr. Wilder was born at Sandy Creek on April 2, 1875, the only son of Oren G. and Sarah Look Wilder. He spent his boyhood years in Richland and was educated in the schools there. In 1895 he moved with his parents to Philadelphia NY where he was employed in mill work. He married the former Eliza Pelkey in 1897. They engaged in farming for many years but in 1922 they retired from the farm to the Corner Grocery Store at North Wilna. In 1935 they moved to Carthage where Mr. Wilder was owner and operator of the Wilder Motor Express until ill health forced his retirement. He was a 58 year Odd Fellow and had been a Mason since 1929. Surviving besides his wife are one sister, Mamie Wilder Pennock of Lakeland, Fla.
