Memorial services for Venila A. DeStephen, 76, of Covington Street and formerly of Oswego, who died Wednesday at Alice Hyde Hospital, Malone, will be at 11 a.m. Sept. 8 in the First United Methodist Church of Oswego. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Oswego.
There will be no calling hours.
Mrs. DeStephen was born in Williamstown. She retired in 1974 after 20 years as a nurses' aide with Harr-Wood Nursing Home, Oswego.
Mrs. DeStephen was a member of the Susan Wesleyan Circle of the First United Methodist Church of Oswego.
Surviving are her husband, James; four daughters, Jennie Favreau of Fort Covington, Beatrice French of Randallsville, and Phyllis Rebeor and Jacqueline Dice, both of Oswego; a brother, D. John Harris of Camden; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Daughter of Albert D. and his second wife Jennie L. (Nicholls) Harris, she married James DeStephen and had four daughters.
Her paternal grandparents were Nathaniel C. and Amelia J. (Onderdonk) Harris.
Her maternal grandparents were Thomas J. and Venila (Stewart) Nicholls.
