- Newspaper Obituary - September 21, 1961 Sandy Creek News - Mrs. Ketchum, 42 Dies Sept 18th - Mrs. Myrtle Porter Ketchum, 42 died Sept 18, 1961 in General Hospital Johnson City. She had been ill since June. Mrs. Ketchum was the daughter of Harrison Porter and the late Mrs. Mary Look Porter of Lacona. She was born May 1, 1919 in Boylston and attended local schools. She had lived in Binghampton and Chenango Forks since her marriage. She is survived by her husband, Austin Ketchum of Union Center; five children; her father, Harrison Porter; a brother, Maurice Porter, Tallahassee, Fla., three sisters; Mrs. Lila Scodrino, Vestal; Mrs. Iva Mortenson, Binghamton and Mrs. Elise Muniz, Salem, Ore. A brother, Edwin, died several years ago. The funeral was held at 10:30 Thursday in Johnson City. Burial was in Union Center.
