Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, August 1, 1929 Mexico Independent - Mexico, New York - Two Brothers Drown In Pool - Two youths, Frederick and Darwin Atkinson, 19 and 17 respectively, sons of Mr. and Mrs. John Atkinson who live six miles southwest of Pulaski, were drowned while swimming on Sunday. Frederick, the first to enter the water swam across the pool. His brother Darwin, after swimming a few feet sank beneath the surface. Frederick went to the rescue, and not being a strong swimmer he became exhausted and sank. The pool is a swimming hole on the McShane farm near Pulaski. Harrison Wagenar, an uncle, went to the aid of his two nephews, but when he reached them the youths caught him in a vise-like grip. He was rescued by visiting motorists. The father of the youths is a nephew of Fred Dean of Mexico.
