Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, May 9, 1929 Mexico Independent - Mexico, New York - Passing of IIarriet W. Pierce - Harriet Walworth Pierce, aged 85 years, 5 months, 6 days, died at the home of her son, Benjamin Pierce, one mile east of Maple View, town of Mexico, Sunday, May 5, 1929, after an illness of several weeks. She was the daughter of Benjamin Walworth and Mary Ann Blount Walworth, and was born in the town of Richland November 29, 1843. On October 26, 1869, Miss Walworth was united in marriage to Winslow Pierce and to them were born three children; one son Benjamin, of Maple View; two daughters, Mrs. Theodore W. Shawl, of Buffalo, New York; Mrs. Walter Nicholson of Pulaski, New York. She also leaves one brother Fayette Walworth, of Ashtabula, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Emma Gilbert, of Lansing, New York. She is also survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Pierce was an active member of the Fernwood Baptist church, a lady who leaves a wide circle of friends. Last rites were held from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter Nicholson, Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Lietke of the Fernwood Baptist church officiating. Interment in Willis cemetery.
