- Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Isabel White Barker, 74, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harvey Slyck, in South. Main street, Mannsville, Sunday, May 10, 1942 were held at the Pratt funeral home at Lacona 2p m. Wednesday Rev. Herbert Harrison, pastor of Sandy Creek Methodist church officiating. Bearers were Leland Blount, Harold Tifft, Volney Balch and Glen Chamberlain. Burial was at Sandy-Creek. Mrs. Barker had suffered with arthritis for three years and had been confined to bed since January of this year.
She was born 0ct. 13 1867 in the town of Sandy Creek, the daughter of Daniel and Jane Robotham White. She married Newell Barker of Boylston Jan. 1. They lived in that Vicinity until 1893 when they purchased a place on the Mannsville Lacona road and conducted a small fruit farm. Mr. Barker died March I8, 1925. Mrs. Barker remained at the home until 1937 when she sold the place and made her home with her oldest daughter Mrs. Waiter Pool on the Hagan Road until November, 1940 when she went to live with her daughter, Mrs Harvey Slyck at Mannsvllle. She is survived by four daughters; Mrs Walter (Frances) Poole, Lacona; Mrs Harvey (Jennie) Slyck, Mannsviile; Mrs. Matthew (Cora) Bencur Pulaski; Mrs Emery (Dora) Coonley, Syracuse. Also three grandchildren: Mrs. Anthony (Hazel) MencKelly, Syracuse, Lauue and Marilyn Slyck, Mannsville, and several nephews and. Nieces. A daughter Hazel died in 1924.
