- LACONA - Mabel L. Dana, 92, of 5096 County Route 22, died Monday at her home.
Mrs. Dana was retired from the former Blount Lumber Company.
Born Aug. 2, 1915, in the town of Sandy Creek, a daughter of George and Addie Horton White, she was educated at Sandy Creek School.
She married James R. Dana on June 7, 1936, in Fleming, with the Rev. Floyd Fennen, Baptist minister, officiating.
Mrs. Dana was a life resident of the Sandy Creek and Lacona area and attended Sandy Creek Baptist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Dana enjoyed bowling and participated in a couples league in Adams. Mrs. Dana was a member of Cable Trail Veterans of Foreign Wars post 8534, Lacona.
Surviving besides her husband of 71 years are a brother, Paul White, Taburg; and two nieces.
Four sisters, Vera Wood, Mertis White, Flora White, and Virginia LaRock, and two brothers, Harwood and Everet White, died before her.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek, with the Rev. George Reed officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sandy Creek. A calling hour will start at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
