Newspaper Obituary - Tuesday. March 12, 2002 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - John I. Cone Sr., Retired Electrical Worker - John I. Cone Sr., 65, of 8 Church Street, died Sunday in Oswego Hospital. Mr. Cone was a utility line clearance worker for International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1249, Syracuse, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Pulaski Seventh-day Adventist Church. Born January 6, 1937, at Fernwood, son of Earl and Ida Mae White Cone, he attended Pulaski schools and served for four years in the Marine Corps. A marriage to Pearl Loretta Rowe ended in divorce. He married Nancy A. Nestor on October 22, 1971, at Skaneateles. She died July 4, 2000. Surviving are three sons and a daughter-in-law, John I. Jr., Orwell, Joseph and Erica, Pulaski, and Sean, Montezuma; three daughters and their husbands, Sherry and Tracy Birdslow, Sandy Creek, Linda and Derek Theiser, Riverside, California, and Laurie and Steve Phouts, Leesburg, Florida; a step-son, Ronald Ely, Bushnell, Florida; four sisters, Shirley Almedia, Mattydale, Beverly Flaherty, Williamstown, Sandra Clemons, Mapleview, and Betty Blodgett, Orwell; his companion, Coralie Scott, Pulaski; 13 grandchildren, a great-grandchild and several nieces. nephews and cousins. Two stepsons died before him, David Ely in 1980 and James Ely in 1988. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek, with Mr. Cone's nephew, the Rev. Donald Clemons Jr., officiating. Spring burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

John I. Cone Sr., 65, of 8 Church St., Pulaski, died Sunday. Born in Fernwood, he attended Pulaski High School. He was a utility line clearance worker and a member of Local 1249 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Syracuse. He was a member of Pulaski Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was a Marine Corps veteran. His wife, the former Nancy Nestor, died in 2000; two stepsons also died previously, David Ely in 1980 and James Ely in 1988.
Survivors: His companion, Coralie Scott; three daughters, Sherry Birdslow of Sandy Creek, Linda Theiser of Riverside, Calif., and Laurie Phouts of Leesburg, Fla.; three sons, John Jr. of Orwell, Joseph of Pulaski and Sean of Montezuma; a stepson, Ronald Ely of Bushnell, Fla.; four sisters, Shirley Almedia of Mattydale, Beverly Flaherty of Williamstown, Sandra Clemons of Maple View and Betty Blodgett of Orwell; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
