      Newspaper Obituary - (date and newspaper unavailable) - Helen Elizabeth Bentley, 100 - Helen Elizabeth Bentley, age 100. died April 26, 1983 in the Oswego Hospital where she had been a patient for one day. Miss Bentley was born March 2, 1883 in Pulaski, New York, the daughter of William and Caroline Woods Bentley. Descendent of an early and distinguished Pulaski family, her great-grandfather Gilbert A. Woods, was a manufacturer of wagons and linseed oil as well as a resident of the Pulaski _. The family home "Woodlawn" was built in 1840 and is one of the oldest on Salina Road. The family estate at one time included a farm which is now Selkirk Shores State Park. She graduated as salutatorian of the Pulaski Academy Class of 1902, and went on to graduate from Wellesley College. Miss Bentley taught English for three years at Pulaski Academy. The next forty-three years were spent in teaching high school English in Jersey City. Her sister, Mary Bentley, died October 9, 1960. She is survived by several cousins. Miss Bentley was honored on her 100th birthday, March 2, 1983, by the New York State Senate. Private services and burial will be in the family plot in the Pulaski Cemetery. Arrangements are by Foster-Hax Funeral Home. Donations can be made to the Pulaski Historical Society or the First Church of Christ Scientist.
