Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, February 14, 1952 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - James A. Bentley, Native Here, Dies -Last rites for James A. Bentley, 65, of Syracuse, who died in Crouse-Irving hospital last Wednesday, were conducted from the Sears funeral home in North Syracuse at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Interment was made in Pulaski cemetery. Mr. Bentley was a native of Pulaski but had lived in Syracuse for a great many years living at 112 Beley Avenue. He had been a patient at the hospital less than two days following a sudden illness. Surviving besides his wife, are a daughter, Mrs. Cecil Hillaboe, Delmar; six sons, Leon, Robert and Richard of Mattydale, Howard, North Syracuse, Leonard of Cooperstown and James of Washington, D. C.; one sister, Ina Halsey of Mexico; three brothers, John of Pulaski, Isaac of Lacona and Sam Bentley of Lowville, and eight grandchildren. He was born in the Town of Albion, October 30, 1886, son of Isaac and Dora Thompson Bentley on a farm on the Rome Road, three miles east of Pulaski, where the old airport was formerly located. He attended school in Pineville and Richland. He was a former member of the Ringgold Fire department of Pulaski and had a milk route in the village for several years. He worked as a tinsmith and sheet metal worker in Syracuse and was a member of the Salina Men's Club of Mattydale.
