    • John served in the Albany County Militia. His vital statistics are corroborated by the Bentley Gleanings (1903) as well as the Ballou Genealogy (1888).
      According to Sylvester's Saratoga County History: "John Bentley came to Milton 1778-79. At that time there was only one house at Saratoga Springs. He took up 150 acres of land and set out an orchard over 100 years ago. In 1878 one tree was still left--still bearing....." The write up goes on to detail the names of the children.
