- Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, July 10, 1879 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Shooting Mystery - On Thursday evening of last week, Mr. John F. Seymour, of New York, was shot while walking in the grounds connected with his residence. None of his friends witnessed the shooting, and that whole affair is shrouded in mystery. One theory has it that he was shot by a tramp, while the Chief of Police thinks the shooting was accidentally100 done by someone firing a gun at some distance from the grounds. Mr. Seymour was a brother-in-law of Bishop Seymour, and uncle of Mr. William Bentley of this village. Mr. Bentley had been associated with the deceased for several years while he was in New York, and Mr. Seymour had paid several visits to his relatives in this village in the vicinity. He was idolized by his wife, and a large circle of friends. He was sixty-one years of age, hale and hearty. Mr. Bentley informs us that the deceased, with his wife, was intending to visit this place next week.
